For Today - Wounds

When we clean a wound it hurts. It's necessary, for our own good, but it still hurts. And then we heal.

Here, I go by Kara to maintain my anonymity. Anonymity is one of the key traditions of 12 Step Groups, including Overeaters Anonymous (OA). It reminds us to place principles before personalities in our recovery.

My personal story of recovery is one of continued growth. I tipped the scales at 325 pounds at my highest weight in November 2013. Since then, I have lost weight, regained some, gained some physical fitness, gotten hurt, healed, and most importantly, started to see The Promises of 12 Step Recovery in my life and my relationships.

While I have learned a lot about nutrition and exercise in my journey so far, OA is not a diet or weight loss program. It is a spiritual program which changes lives. It is for people who want it, not need it. I need it. I also want it.
